I’m working on a Trooper Traverse trip report this morning, look for part one later today. Meanwhile, Neal Beidleman checked in from fourteener Castle Peak. He and friends skied the East Face yesterday morning. The route has been getting quite a bit of traffic, testimony to the amazing welded snowpack the Elks have this year, as well as a convergence of modern gear, technique and attitude that’s opening up possibilities for many more skiers.

Way to get after it. We were up in Montezuma Sunday and skied a couloir on the East side this morning and there is still tons of snow up there and saw them whooping it up on the summit before the descent. There is still tons of snow up there. The trail up to Tagert and GW is getting nasty but still tons up snow above that.
