PNW Early Season Ski Touring is Alive and Well

It is wonderful most places in North America have had excellent early-season skiing. Here in the PNW, we’ve not had it as good as some of you. Still, over the past few weeks we’ve managed to find a few powdery spots. Here’s the photos, just to show we’ve still got it.

Here in Central Oregon, it hasn’t been quite as nice as you have it up north, but there’s more coming. Thanks for sharing the pics of my backyard growing up!

The biggest news in backcountry skiing in the PNW this year is our uncommon, currently active deep persistent slab problem. The nice weather but thin snowpack that you enjoyed may have cursed us, at least for the short-term. Luckily the storms are hammering now.
