What does his blogness do to prep for winter? Ski tuning, boot fitting? Hot tub improvements but of course!

Getting the radius correct was a challenge as the tub isn’t perfectly round. But it turned out much nicer than our former edge detailing, which was simply a chunk of PU fire hose.
The wood fired wilderness tub required a few repairs, we figured it was time for nicer edging so a swing-arm router jig was cobbled up and the redwood sliced. Still needs sanding and a few other finishing touches, but we like. Much better support for the wine glasses after a day of ski touring.

Looking pretty luxurious up there…..
Hi Scott, yeah, it took about three days to make those four “smiley” boards using a router swing arm system. They’re too precise, I could have probably just installed them then cut the circle with a jigsaw. But any excuse to use as many tools as possible… Reminded me of those days carpentering Aspen mega-mansion jobs, when the “one board day” was not uncommon. Next time any real craftsmanship happens up at the HQ, you’re invited (smile).
