Trooper Traverse _Date_
Honoring the soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division
In 1944, a small elite group of 10th Mountain Division soldiers made a 40-mile winter crossing over the huge snow-covered mountains between Leadville and Aspen, Colorado. Their four-day trip, on skis in the highest mountains in the Rockies, was an audacious statement of skill, poise and rugged self reliance. In late winter of 2001, Lou Dawson teamed up with photographers Brian Litz and Chris Clark and retraced the route. The Trooper Traverse is a multimedia presentation of their journey. The blends original historical photos of the soldier's trip with Brian Litz shots of the the 2001 journey. The show is narrated live by Dawson, who will also answer questions about the trip.
"It was the perfect trip," says Dawson, who is the first man to ski down all 54 of Colorado's 14,000 foot mountains, and has written numerous books and magazine articles about ski mountaineering. Join us at ___ pm on _______ , for this exciting presentation. Tickets will be sold at the door ($?) with all proceeds to benefit the _______. Admission also includes entry for raffle prizes. Lou Dawson will be available to sell and sign his books, which include guides to Colorado's 14ers and the 10th Mountain Huts.
