I attended the premier. I've seen a lot of ski movies over time, these days they all rock. This movie is not your traditional ski movie, but it rocks like the rest and then some. It is a very well done story about how and why big mountain skiing evolved. The story stair steps you up to the edge of your seat as Shane, Chris, Doug and Ingred rip big mountain lines. Doug Coombs and his story from High School to Alaska and on to La Grave is amazing. His comments from 4 days before his death are haunting. These guys did a great job in capturing and trying to answer the question as to why these athletes put themselves in these life and death ski situtations. There was a huge buzz from everyone seeing the movie. The High def viewing was also awesome. Cant wait to see it on the big screen.

Lou, I agree and am willign to bet that it will never come remotely close to Montana. Possible at Sundance, but surely not in Missoula sadly. Again, I hope I'm wrong...

Big Sky, I think it's just that they're New Yorkers and wouldn't even think of showing it first anywhere else. Probably nothing sinister, though I have to admit I wish we all could somehow see it sooner rather than later.

Why is this film being premired in NYC? Did they grab a bit of our culture so they can take it back to there friends and say look at us and these neat people out west? Lot's of $$ involved here and I wonder if it is truely paying tribute to the REAL folks that made this happen...why Not Jackson, Aspen, Tahoe? Interesting...selling out for $$? It does look like a great film...
