Hello all,
We’re coming up on our 2nd blogaversary (Dec 21) — the team here at WildSnow.com wishes to thank every one of you for your incredible support. We work hard to keep this website running — and your mouse click votes show us it’s worth it! A few numbers: As of today our WordPress blog has 516 posts, and our old html blog adds a few hundred more to that! More, you guys have left more than 1,500 comments, resulting in WildSnow.com providing an immense amount of backcountry skiing content — everything from binding mounting instructions to political opinion. More, get this: about 3,000 of you are visiting us every day!

Several blog readers have asked me how our sponsorship system works for WildSnow.com. Basically, we’re based on the radio model, meaning we give away content and sell advertising to advertisers who want you to see their banners. On top of that, we do quite a bit of affiliate advertising, meaning some of our ads pay us a percentage of sales if you click on them and buy something. Lastly, we receive a small pay-per-click fee when the Google ads get clicked on. All this combines to make blogging worth the time involved, but as is common with any small business it seems like we’re always needing a bit more to lubricate the wheels. To that end, I wanted to remind all you loyal backcountry skiing blog readers that our list of affiliate shopping links is here, and I’ll publish a few below. Thanks again everyone!

Yeah, none of the climbing, skiing, running mags that I read would exist without advertising. Maybe I need to expand my current choice of literature anyhow… I don’t really enjoy flipping through a rag mostly full of ads and very little practical content. But they gotta pay the bills too… Thats a rant for another day…. Lou, I really appreciate your site and the plethora of information you provide on a variety of topics. I mean where else would I have heard about the “deckplate mod” and Dynafits on the same site?

Got something to say?
