One of the most popular pages on this website is our massive stack of human edited backcountry skiing news links. We let this go a bit during the dog days of summer, but we’re back at it. We’ll be adding tidbits nearly every day, so check it out and drop us some news tips if you see anything we should mention (use contact link in menu to left.) Enjoy.

Note that our skiing news page is always available in the nav menu to left, under “Lou’s News.”

Hi Lou- Just looking at the Aspen Times today and their front page article on Burning Mountain / Snowmass. Reading it made me think, what is backcountry? Can something like that really be considered backcountry? Admittingly, I’m not a big backcountry person simply because I really lack the safety experience and I don’t want to hurt myself nor others. But just curious as to how you would define “the backcountry?”
