A few WildSnow.com website issues for Monday morning:

Some of you are reporting slow load times and problems such as only part of our blog images loading. Unless your web connection is slow, snail-like page loads are probably caused by my web host. They can handle tons of data (bandwidth), but appear to not always provide the quickest transfer of that same data. The popularity of this blog and website exacerbates the problem. When around 2,000 folks visit in a day that’s a an enormous number of bytes winging through the pipe. I’m in contact with our host’s support, and hope to get things fixed soon.

If you do have problems with page loads when visiting here, try refreshing your browser by clicking your “refresh” button. With Internet Explorer that’s usually a small button in the top toolbar. When you mouse over the button it says “Refresh.”

In case some of you have problems with your connection speed, I changed the number of homepage displayed posts to 6 instead of 7. Since we use numerous photos in our posts, browsing one less post should make a significant difference in how fast your browser can load the WildSnow homepage.

We’ve been making numerous small changes throughout WildSnow.com. The Life-Link advertising banners are installed on virtually all pages, but we’ve not uploaded all the changed pages. That will change when we have time to refresh the entire website. We’ve got a new index page and FAQ for Silvretta Pure backcountry skiing bindings. If you have comments or questions about the Pure, please comment here and we’ll add to the Pure FAQ if appropriate. I’ve updated other pages as well, such as our famed Dynafit FAQ, and add news items to the news page as appropriate. As always, the news page is amazingly popular, so I’ll keep that going as long as it’s getting the type of traffic it does.

Regarding comments, please remember that we welcome your words, but because automated spam robots constantly attack and leave their noxious comments, we have to approve each comment by hand. This doesn’t take long, but if I’m away from the computer the process may be delayed. Thus, be patient if you don’t see your comment immediately — it will appear eventually, usually within a few hours.

As always, we thank your for visiting and value your input.
