Patrick, FT and ST are virtually the same binding.
http://www.wildsnow.com/1427/dynafit-ft12-ski-binding/

Very few people have trouble with pre-release of ST. If you're a larger skier or super aggressive, you might on general principle just go with the FT 12, otherwise either will work fine. About a million skiers agree with me.

Hey Lou,
a fine review. I watched the swift.silent.deep, and I'm already having dreams about ski season. I'd like to suggest that you write an article or faq or the like on which dynafit binding is appropriate to what sort of skier. One of the most annoying and worthless parts of the dynafit website is the description of the bindings, which almost always has the same blurb about marvelous engineers. Just a thought. I've been trying to figure out if the ft12 is overkill, or whether I'm going to be pre-releasing and cursing in an ST. Any thoughts?

Looking forward to seeing both films having some personal connection with both.
I read the book The Edge of Never and I was kind of shocked by it. For me it was a story about how a snowboarder saved a bunch of skiers lives.

I watched the trailer for Edge of Never several times. Might just have to watch the whole thing now. As to the Jackson Hole Air Force, and Doug Coombs getting banned from Jackson Hole ski area, it certainly was the opening of the floodgates for open boundaries.
