I have a pair of 188cm K2 CoombaCKs which I have beat the #$%^& out of over two seasons touring in Revelstoke, Nevados de Chillan, Chile, and at Powder Mountain in Utah. They have been bomb-proof, despite the fact that I'm a big fella (6'2" and 220 lbs, 188cm and 99 kilos). But I use Fritschis, not Dynafits.

I am actually thinking of getting another pair of CoombaCKs in 181 and mounting them with Dynafit 12s for days when I know I'll be doing way more up than down.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with the K2 backcountry series, specifically the hardside, delaminating?
I have seen images of several pairs mounted with dynafit ft12's which have had a strange combination of toe binding ripping out and a large section of the top layer delaminating after only a few days use. These are all from a single large european shop, so I am trying to establish if it may be a bad batch, a problem with the ski, or just a weird coincidence!
this is particularly relevant to me as mine went after 4.5 days use, no hard skiing, toe not locked. (and have left me randoski-less just as winter restarts here in chamonix)
Cheers

I've modded the notches in many ski tails, never had a problem. Just to a minimal amount. I usually use a course file.

hi Lou,
I just picked up a pair of the Coombacks, removed my TLTs from my old skis and mounted them on these. Was just playing around with putting my G3 Alpinist skins on them and it looks like the ski tail may require some customization (widening of the notch?) to work with the G3 tail hardware. But before I start wacking on my brand new skis, thought I would see if you had tried this or had any comment on it.
Thanks!

Not to mention this ski you may have heard of called the Pontoon. There's also the Darkside, which is, I think, 128 under foot and available at Evogear right now.
