Avalanche Education
Backcountry folk continue to be dug out dead — even with beacons. I was speaking with winter fourteener climber Hamish Gowans this morning and mentioned that I couldn’t think of anyone teaching a decision making paradigm predicated on the “if you’re caught you die” view of avalanche safety. Hamish climbs with that point of view (since he solos), and mentioned he knew of a new avalanche education program that he’ll provide details about later. Should be interesting.
