Andrew, it's going great at the moment though I had a hard time yesterday with it. Really nice on the back end as I got super tired of the lag while uploading photos and blog posts to the shared server environment. And on the surface, I should have pretty much 99.9 percent uptime, fewer glitches that wreck your comments, etc.

Advantage for me is as a webmaster I've got some clients who's sites I can host on my server, and thus defray some of the cost. I had to get a pretty beefy/expensive server because of my traffic peaks. Lower traffic sites would usually do fine with VPS more in the $40 month range.

I pay by the month, so if necessary because of financial problems I could always hop back to a cheapo shared server.

Lou,

Sorry to hear about the continued hosting issues. I'm sure that's been stressful. I'm curious to see if the Virtual Private option works out. I've been tempted to go that route for my site, but cost has always kept me putting up with slow shared plans.

Pete, it's a B to B event that's super important to how the industry works, as it's where retailer orders are written and many other business deals made. And we also touch gear, as it's a journalist/media event as well. As to my having been there, yes, of course. Use the search box at upper right and search for "or show" for a few hits.

Have you been to the Outdoor Retailer show before? What exactly goes on there? Is it basically just a playground to touch various companies' new products?
